Frequently Asked Question
How do I know what times you have available?
Please fill out the contact form and let me know what days and times usually work best for you. We’ll find something that fits both of us, adaptibility is part of the practice.
I’m not sure if this is right for me. What should I do?
That’s completely okay. We can have a free 15–20 minute chat (Curiosity Call) to see what you’re looking for and whether this feels like a good fit. If it’s not, I’m glad to help you think about other options and professionals that might serve you better.
What is Viniyoga?
Viniyoga is a tradition of yoga rooted in the teachings of T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar. Its foundation is relationship between teacher and student, breath and movement, tradition and individual.
Core principles of Viniyoga include:
Adaptation: Yoga is shaped to meet the unique needs, abilities, and circumstances of each person.
Function over form: The intention and effect of a movement or practice matter more than how it looks.
Breath as guide: Breath leads movement and anchors attention, connecting body, mind, and spirit.
Repetition and stay: Using both dynamic movement and held postures to cultivate awareness and stability.
Integration: The goal of practice is to bring balance and connection into everyday life, not to master poses.
At its heart, Viniyoga is a living lineage. It is responsive, respectful, and rooted in care.
Can sessions be virtual?
Yes. All individual and group sessions can be held virtually.
Where do in-person sessions take place?
If you’re new to working with me, we’ll talk about in-person options during our free 20-minute chat (Curiosity Call).
Do you offer drop-in classes?
I don’t currently offer drop-in classes. You can check the calendar for upcoming group yoga therapy series.
Do I have to follow a certain faith or belief system?
No. You are welcome exactly as you are, whatever your faith, doubt, or questioning may look like. You’re invited to bring what feels meaningful to you into our sessions.
Is yoga a religion? Will it conflict with my beliefs?
Yoga is not a religion. It’s a long-standing practice from South and Southeast Asia that invites relationship with body, breath, and awareness. You don’t have to believe anything in particular. I honor the roots of this tradition while also honoring who *you* are.
Are you a licensed mental health professional?
No. I’m a Yoga Therapist, not a clinical therapist. I bring over 30 years of experience supporting people in community and care settings, which shapes how I hold space. Yoga therapy can stand alongside talk therapy, and often they complement each other beautifully.
Can I do yoga if I’m not flexible?
Yes, absolutely. Flexibility is not required. Yoga meets you where you are. Movement is just one part of the practice; breath, awareness, meditation, sound, and rest are just as important.
Do I need to bring a mat or special equipment?
You’re welcome to bring your own mat if you have one. I can also provide a mat, blankets, or bolsters. A rug, towel, or blanket at home works just fine. We’ll go over what you’ll need during our initial conversation.
How do I book a group session?
Just email me or fill out the contact form.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept credit cards, cash, Venmo, and Zelle. If you use a different payment method, just ask, we can usually make it work.
Do you accept tips?
That’s kind of you to ask. If you’d like to offer a tip, it’s appreciated but never expected.
Still have questions? Reach out through the contact form. I’d love to hear from you.
